A full weekend of big bands, fine art, family fun and fabulous food is on tap for Highland Fest 2008, one of the Midwest’s largest mid-summer festivals.

WHAT
A full weekend of big bands, fine art, family fun and fabulous food is on tap for Highland Fest 2008, one of the Midwest’s largest mid-summer festivals, expecting to attract more than 60,000 attendees! And, Highland Fest is the only local festival offering FREE admission to see two stages featuring a variety of local bands, including a special appearance by Minnesota favorite - Martin Zellar!! Also on tap, the high-energy band High & Mighty and Beatles Tribute Band Rubber Soul.

Plus, don’t miss the Strong Man Competition on Sunday, July 20, which includes competitors who will push, pull, lift and drag various weights in the following categories:
• Keg Press
• 800 Lb Tire Flip
• Arm over Arm Truck Pull
• Atlas Stone lift
• Highland Fest Stone Carry
• Tire Flip into Keg Carry

In addition, Highland Fest 2008 hosts one of the area’s most prestigious juried art fairs, with more than 80 fine artists selling jewelry, photography, painting, glass, sculpture, clay and ceramics, metal, wood, leather and more.

The fun continues at Highland Fest’s Midway packed with games and rides including the ferris wheel, giant slide, merry-go-round, ring-a-bottle, kids high striker, Star Ship, Jack Pots, grab bag, shoot the star, dozers, basket ball, bank a ball, break a plate, crane game balloon darts and more. Highland Fest’s Kids Corner features a petting zoo, face painter, balloon artist, the Splatter Sisters and costume kids’ parade.

WHEN
Highland Fest 2008 is Friday, July 18 through Sunday, July 20, and open the following times:
• Friday, July 18 from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm
• Saturday, July 19 from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm
• Sunday, July 20 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Highland Fest 2007 is located on Cleveland Avenue and Ford Parkway in St. Paul, Minn.

WHY
Highland Fest is organized and promoted by the Highland Business Association (HBA), which works year-round to highlight the Highland Park neighborhood community and businesses. All proceeds from Highland Fest benefit HBA, which funds improvements in Highland Village.
